How to turn off transcoding

If you want Mezzmo to stream your original files to your devices and not transcode any incompatible file, then you can turn transcoding off in Mezzmo. Mezzmo will simply deliver your files natively to your devices. This can be useful to determine what types of files can be played on your device. This format knowledge can also help Conceiva staff fine tune device profiles for devices.

Important: Turning off transcoding may result in some files not being played on your devices due to compatibility issues with your device. It will also stop subtitles being embedded and/or burnt into your videos.

There are two ways to turn off transcoding in Mezzmo:

1. Turn off transcoding for all devices

To turn off transcoding for all devices:

  1. Click Media Server → Transcoding Settings to display the Transcoding Settings dialog.
    Transcoding Settings dialog
  2. Click the Turn off transcoding for all connected devices checkbox.
  3. Click OK to save your changes.
  4. Restart your Mezzmo server. Mezzmo will not transcode any file when streaming to your devices.
