Controlling metadata and artwork collection

Mezzmo automatically collects text metadata, poster artwork and backdrop artwork for your media files. It collects metadata and artwork from a variety of sources:

  • Text metadata from the file paths of media files.
  • Text metadata and artwork embedded in media files.
  • Text metadata and artwork in external metadata files.
  • Text metadata and artwork from online web sites.

You can configure what text metadata and artwork is collected using the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog. You can access this dialog by clicking the Metadata Retrieval Settings button on the Options dialog (Retrieving Metadata page).

Any changes you make in the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog will be applied to new files that you add into your Mezzmo library or when you use the Maintain Library dialog.

Manually getting text metadata and artwork for movies and TV shows

If Mezzmo has not collected the correct text metadata and artwork, then you can try to find the correct text metadata and artwork manually using the Get Online Video Metadata dialog.

Right-click on the video and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, click the Get Online Video Metadata button.

Tip: Mezzmo searches http://www.themoviedb.org for movies and http://www.thetvdb.com for TV shows.
